Now through December 31, all donations to the 14Y Theater will have double the impact!

The CANVAS has generously agreed to match all gifts up to a total of $12,500.

All gifts, including one-time and recurring monthly donations, contributed to the 14Y Theater by December 31, 2020 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the CANVAS. Donate today to support local artists and rejuvenate the arts in Downtown Manhattan!

Help us light the way for artists at the 14Y

The 14Y Theater is launching a new local artist residency program in early 2021. The 14Y will provide artists with the space, time, and financial resources to create new work and share it in innovative ways.

In honor of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, we’re asking you – a key part of our community – to help the 14Y to reignite the Theater at the 14th Street Y and fuel the many artists who have been deeply impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

We need $25,000 to launch this new exciting residency program.
We need your help to get there!

Donate today to support local artists and reignite the arts in Downtown Manhattan!

Even after we’ve reached our first goal, every additional $6,000 we raise will help us bring another new artist in residence to the 14Y Theater!

The Urgent Need

Since March 2020, the arts and theater industry from Broadway to our own black box theater, have been on pause to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In the last 9 months, the visual and performing arts field has lost 2.7 million jobs. But these staggering numbers, representing only established artists, fail to take into account emerging creatives – those holding down multiple jobs as they stage new work off-off Broadway, or exhibiting in a gallery Downtown – the artists of our future.

Today, only a ghost light illuminates our dark theater–as our diverse community of artists and culture creators remain in the shadows waiting for the chance to come back into the light to create and share new art with our community again.

As an organization that places community at the heart of all that we do, we know that local artists need our support now more than ever before. Our new residency program will support artists at a critical time and create space for them to incubate work that reflects the changing realities of our lives at this moment in time.
