In 1991 our Founder, Karra Jackson, had a life-changing experience as a high school camp counselor at an environmental education camp in North Bend, Washington. This ignited her desire to bring overnight Outdoor School to as many 5th and 6th grade students in our community as possible. She never lost that hope, and today, more than 30 years later that dream has become a reality with the founding of our nonprofit

organization, Camp GEORGE.

Our mission is to cultivate an Outdoor School community that inspires all participants to reach their fullest potential by bringing the classroom outdoors. We empower current and future generations to become compassionate, innovative, environmental stewards through immersive and transformative social and emotional learning, and experiential education.

From reducing stress to improving mental and physical health, outdoor-based learning helps kids thrive. Our utilization of high school mentors as camp counselors provides critical leadership skills that help older students achieve their future goals, while younger campers flourish under their mentorship. Most importantly, the seed of a lifelong love for

nature is planted.
