Since 2013, we have encouraged men in our community to take a united stand in support of survivors of domestic and sexual violence by making a donation to the Bay Area Women’s Center. The support of men like you over the years has made an immeasurable difference in the lives of many survivors. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do.

In our society today, we are facing a new normal with the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic. People employed across all industries are working remotely or are not able to work at all. This reality creates a problem for those facing violence. With the increased stress of lost wages and the increased time stuck in an unsafe home, instances of domestic and sexual violence occur with more frequency and intensity.

We know this time of social distancing will not last forever, but, for a victim of violence, an end to the pandemic does not equal an end to the violence.

By banding together and raising our voices, we can continue to support survivors. The Bay Area Women’s Center is steadfast in their commitment to provide services amidst these uncertain times to ensure survivors have access to the resources they need. As Great Men, we can do our part to support those services and speak out to our friends and family. Let your networks know that social isolation protects individuals from the virus, not violence. Contact a friend or colleague who may be facing violence and encourage them to reach out to BAWC for help. Invite others to join you as a Great Man by making a donation.

Together, we can weather COVID-19. Together, we can support survivors of violence. Together, we can work to eliminate domestic and sexual violence.

All our best,

Sincerely the Members of the Great Men Committee,

Jeremy Rick, BAWC Executive Director
