Brooklyn Independent is a nonprofit middle school founded by Gabriela Tejedor and Kelsey Jones, two educators with a core belief that racial and socioeconomic inclusivity is vital to an excellent education, especially during the formative years of 6th through 8th grade. Situated within the most segregated public school system in the United States, Brooklyn Independent offers a sliding-scale tuition model that ensures students can access an education that prepares them for a self-determined future of their own imagining regardless of their family's ability to pay.
