Capital Partners for Education (CPE) is a 501(c)3 non-profit whose mission is to mentor low-income DC students to college and career. The COVID-19 pandemic is disrupting the lives of all Americans, but for CPE’s low-income high school and college students who were already vulnerable economically, the crisis is much worse. The financial impact of the virus is threatening the stability of our students’ families, presenting immediate food insecurity challenges, and jeopardizing their college and career goals.

CPE has traditionally made Emergency Funds available to help students meet unanticipated academic expenses. This year, in the midst of a global crisis, we’ve expanded our support almost seven-fold to cover everything from rent and medical expenses to groceries and utility bills – or even to take on something as simple as buying a student a new desk. Our support today is directed not at “academic expenses,” but on all the costs that keep our students from being able to focus on their academics.

To ensure students have the support needed to remain focused on their futures, our Board has generously pledged to match up to the first $50,000 in donations to support CPE’s Emergency Funds.

Thank you for supporting our students!
