CapitalBop turns 10 in 2020! What do we do for D.C.?

At CapitalBop, jazz is always next. We say “jazz” to mean improvised music — created in the moment and sparked by the energy the band and audience bring. We nurture the magic they make together, as the NPR Jazz Night in America video above shows.

We give everything we can to our musical community — its musicians, artists and fans. And we’ve found that the music always gives back. Founded in 2010 and run by young musicians, writers and cultural organizers, CapitalBop promotes, presents and preserves jazz through:

(1) Concert events like our outside-the-box monthly DC Jazz Loft series and Spotlight Residency, and our series of cutting-edge shows at the DC Jazz Festival;

(2) CapitalBop.com - our online magazine and comprehensive D.C. jazz calendar; and

(3) our emerging education program, which puts D.C.’s great teaching artists in front of children across the District, helping them access their city’s cultural legacy and their own creativity.

JAZZ IS NEXT! How you can help support CapitalBop's service to the D.C. jazz scene?

A lot of folks don't know we're a nonprofit — but we are! So we can’t do all we do to uplift the vibrant D.C. scene or roll out the new programs we have in store for our 10th anniversary year in 2020 without YOUR involvement.

Here's how you can help:

DONATE: Any amount gets things done, as you can see here! You will receive a tax-deductible emailed receipt for your giving. Thank you!

FRIENDRAISE: Click the "I want to fundraise for this" button above and commit to asking (5) people or more to donate during our giving campaign (this is super helpful!).
