Here’s a meaningful way for you to make a true difference in the lives of children growing up in New York’s low-income communities.
Chess education builds critical thinking, focus, problem-solving, self-esteem, patience, sportsmanship, and other skills in children.
Chess in the Schools has for 32 years done that, each year serving more than 6,000 low-income youth from elementary to high school, providing a safe and encouraging community of intellectual interest to help the challenges these children face.
But, for every school we serve, there are two more on a waiting list...
That’s where the One Smart Move campaign comes in. Every child matters, and we aim to improve the lives of an additional 250 children by raising a total of $50,000 to pay for programs in two additional schools and, as important, to expand the family of committed and thoughtful donors who make it possible to serve more students in the future.
Your contribution matters! You and every donor will be invited to events throughout the year to see in person the results of your donation. And, if we receive your gift by the end of 2018, it will be matched by an anonymous donor, who has agreed to match up to $50,000, so if our campaign succeeds, we will be able to fund work with two additional schools -- another 250 children!
We look forward to your joining the CIS family in helping these wonderful children succeed in life -- one smart move at a time!
