About Pedal for Peace: Bike/Run/Walk in Your Barrio
This year the Chicago Religious Leadership Network on Latin America, CRLN, continues to participate in the Pedal for Peace project which this year celebrates 35 years of people and organizations in Chicago coming together to fundraise in support of projects in Latin America and Immigrant Rights. The project continues this unique tradition of connecting people to the work for human rights and immigrant rights through partner organizations like Centro Romero, Chicago- Cinquera Sister Cities, Chicago-Guatemala Partnership and Concern America. Together we are supporting projects in Guatemala, El Salvador, Colombia and Immigrant Rights work in Illinois.

NOTE: If you need to send a check, make it out to CRLN, put the name of the team you support in the memo line, and mail it to CRLN, 5655 S. University Ave., Rm. 23, Chicago, IL 60637.

This year we will continue to fundraise for six exceptional projects. Participants will request donations from friends and family to sponsor them. The donations are accepted electronically or by personal check sent by mail. And just like years before, there are many ways to participate.

* You choose the day for your activity

* You can Bike/Run/Walk alone or with family/friends

* Your activity can be on a path, a neighborhood streets, in a park, or on an exercise bike

* You can ask a friend or family member to donate to the projects in honor of your activity

* And send us many photos of yourself biking/running/walking

The funds raised will be processed through the Chicago Religious Leadership Network on Latin America and will be divided between the participating organizations like CRLN.

Your donation will support the general work of our organization but will also help us continue our work of education towards action in regards to the harmful foreign policy towards Latin America. We continue to hold our anti-militarization stance and will always speak out against the ills of neoliberal exploitative economic initiatives. In collaboration with the six participating organizations, CRLN coordinates the Pedal for Peace: Bike/Run/Walk in Your Barrio project. As an organization, CRLN builds partnerships among social movements and organized communities within and between the U.S. and Latin America. We work together through popular education, grassroots organizing, public policy advocacy, and direct action to dismantle U.S. militarism, neoliberal economic and immigration policy, and other forms of state and institutional violence. We are united by our liberating faiths and inspired by the power of people to organize and to find allies to work for sustainable economies, just relationships and human dignity.

The funds donated here will support CRLN overall work but specifically our work in support of Human Rights Defenders in Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and Colombia.
