As we speak, the Trump Administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) is aggressively deporting Black Mauritanians who fled to the U.S. because of torture, murder, slavery, and abuse at the hands of Mauritania’s ruling class. Documented abuses of Black Mauritanians continue today. But now, the Trump Administration wants to reverse decades of U.S. precedent and send them back to imprisonment and danger. This is unacceptable. Black Mauritanians have made their homes in the United States, and are dedicated parents, workers, and contributing members of our communities.

With quality legal representation, many Black Mauritanians have successfully stopped their deportation. But representation is costly, ICE continues to aggressively target this group, and we need to defend each case. Currently, more than two dozen individuals are incarcerated in immigration jails and facing deportation, with more being arrested every week.

We need your help to expand our legal team quickly, if we’re going to have a chance of keeping these families safe and together. All funds donated will go to legal defense, bonds, and community support for these valued members of our local communities. Donate today!

The fund is administered by African Immigrant Relief (lead by Ahmed Tidiane, Hamidou Sy, Tafsir Ndiath, Houleye Thiam, and Julie Nemecek), the Ohio Immigrant Alliance and Cleveland Jobs with Justice.

Digital promotion, advocacy, and the page photo provided by the UndocuBlack Network.

The Washington Post says “ICE is sending Mauritanians back to modern-day slavery.” USA Today writes “Trump increase deportations to Mauritania, where slavery dominates culture.”

All donations are tax-deductible.
