Here at Davidson Housing Coalition, we’re delighted with the progress we’ve made toward a full schedule of improvements at The Bungalows, our first affordable rental community!

Since June 2023, we have:

Replaced the roofs at all nine Bungalows buildings;
Added new, more energy-efficient appliances to many residents’ kitchens and laundry closets;
Installed new water heaters in all units;
Moved forward with updating flooring in every unit, using residents’ color selections; and
Begun a comprehensive repainting effort to freshen all interiors and completed a separate project to repaint exterior doors—again using residents’ color choices.

In total we’ve invested over $300,000 in breathing new life into a critical neighborhood at the heart of our community!

In 2026 we are continuing to write grants and seek individual gifts that will allow us to close out this ambitious project by

Installing new HVAC systems at every unit;
Adding a new 1-bedroom apartment to the Bungalows community;
Introducing outdoor gathering and active spaces to meet the needs of pre-teen, teen, and adult residents; and
Resealing and restriping the parking lot.
