Join the Urban Forest Initiative!

A healthy tree canopy in Downtown Denver is imperative to the livelihood of residents and businesses alike.

The Why

The benefits of a healthy urban forest are endless – a cooler, safer city, cleaner air, reduced stress, higher income streams for businesses, reduced time on the market for real estate listings, an overall more enjoyable pedestrian experience, and a key solution to the climate crisis.

The What

The Urban Forest Initiative’s (UFI) mission is to grow Downtown Denver’s urban forest through education, built infrastructure, and maintenance. The Build the Canopy Program is a $7.5 million grant program that will build or expand 500 tree planting areas throughout Downtown Denver. Together, we are building a robust urban tree canopy for the enjoyment of residents, employees, and visitors alike.

The Support

Your support and commitment to improving the outdoor spaces in Downtown Denver will help create the environment for trees to thrive, creating a robust and mature urban forest that will bring environmental, economic, and social benefits to our community for many decades to come.

This is an collaborative effort between the Downtown Denver Partnership (Partnership), the Downtown Denver Business Improvement District (BID), the City and County of Denver Parks and Recreation Department (City), downtown property owners, and Denver’s corporate and philanthropic leaders. We have set the goal to raise $1,000,000 through philanthropic donations in support of the Urban Forest Initiative.

With your support we are growing an urban forest downtown bringing nature and life to the city.
