In light of the recent federal funding freeze memo 25-13 late Monday, 1/27/25, and the uncertainty that it has created DVIP & RVAP are raising life-saving funds to support victim-survivors. Although the memo was rescinded, the Executive Orders that initiated the memo are still in place, and the duration of the funds' restoration remains unclear. This has caused DVIP & RVAP to take proactive steps to ensure we can continue providing life-saving support and advocacy to victim-survivors.

56% of DVIP & RVAP's budget is from federal grant funds. In addition, this decision will impact all domestic violence and sexual assault services across Iowa, as those programs are typically 70-95% federally funded. A federal funding freeze means that victim-survivors who need funding support to gain safe housing or pay for the cost of post-sexual assault life-saving prescriptions will not be able to access direct aid. It jeopardizes the safety of victim-survivors at all levels of their needs, from direct aid to providing basic advocacy support. In addition, this freeze will impact additional resources like food, baby supplies, hygiene, etc because the ongoing need of victim-survivors is so great and all support systems are facing the same challenge with funding.

The Accessible Giving Campaign calls on our supporters to make monthly contributions that are within their budgets to help DVIP & RVAP provide supplies, financial aid, and emergency shelter through these uncertain times. Our goal for this campaign is $20,000, but the reality is that it costs over $500,000 to provide these basic three services over three months.
