COVID-19 Relief and Recovery

by DowntownDC Foundation

Help the DowntownDC Foundation continue to address the vital needs of individuals experiencing homelessness during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Downtown Day Services Center began on April 27 offering limited showers, access to laundry, restrooms and the clothing closet, but remains closed due to the pandemic. This means that 160-200 individuals per day are not receiving services there.

Outdoor food distribution continues under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines, but we need your help.

Currently, we are working with our partners including the DC Department of Human Services and Pathways to Housing DC to offer the following:

  • 625 boxed lunches served weekly Monday-Friday
  • 450 lunches served every weekend Saturday-Sunday
  • 525 evening snack packs per week
  • Showers, laundry, restroom and clothing closet access by appointment at the Downtown Day Services Center
  • Purchasing and handing out gloves and face masks
  • Connecting individuals to supportive services
  • Distributing hygiene and sanitary items
  • Supplying individuals with clean clothing
  • Winter coats and cold weather items

The DowntownDC Foundation is the 501c3 charitable organization of the DowntownDC Business Improvement District (BID).
