Women in Games International is a global organization based in Los Angeles, California, whose mission is to cultivate resources to advance economic equality and diversity in the video games industry. As an organization focused on empowering women to empower other women, WIGI is proud to participate in 31 Days of Women in Power to celebrate women in positions of power throughout March. We are honored to be recognized among other women of distinction across all sectors as part of the Women in Games day.
Women in Games Day participants include:
At 46%, women today make up almost half of gamers worldwide. However, if you look at the 144 executives in the Top 14 gaming companies, only 23 (or 16%) are women. By cultivating resources such as advanced knowledge sharing, access to technology, and actionable mentorship programs, Women in Games International works to normalize women in the video game industry through increased representation. In doing so, we aim to create superior products and a stronger industry, with diverse games and greater female representation that reflect the growing population of female gamers. Since the organization started in 2005, the number of women working in the industry has doubled.
WIGI's goal is to promote the inclusion, advancement, and retention of women in the video game industry. With a focus on women's equality as well as equity and opportunity, we have taken the pledge to empower women in March to celebrate this year's Women's History Month and International Women's Day in partnership with Dress for Success Worldwide.
Please join us not only to celebrate women but to take action in advancing equality by donating the equivalent of just one hour of pay (or any amount) to empower a woman. With your help, we can reach our industry goal of $25,000 to aid women worldwide.
Women are more vulnerable to COVID-19–related economic effects because of existing gender inequalities.* Women and people of color, particularly black and indigenous women, are more vulnerable to the harmful health, social, and economic impacts of COVID-19.** Dress for Success's work in helping women gain employment and develop a support system is more critical than ever. The campaign, Your Hour Her Power, is impactful and inspiring. It was created to address the alarming female recession in the workforce and its impact on women's progress.
Your participation is more than just a gift; it's an investment in the wider world. When women work, families thrive, communities prosper, and the economy grows. A contribution is an investment in a woman's future.
