As we approach September, students and families across our city, including many of you, are preparing for an uncertain school year as our country grapples with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and longstanding racial injustice. We are working closely with our school communities, many of whom are disproportionately affected by these challenges and inequities, to see how we can further partner with and support them through edible education.

We’re seeking to raise $50,000 by September to support our work and partnerships with school communities in Central Brooklyn, the South Bronx, and East Harlem. This work is more important than ever in light of the tremendous disruption and trauma experienced this year.

Funds raised will help us to:

  • ensure our students have safe, welcoming, and joyful green spaces for when schools reopen and promote outdoor garden education, which will be an important component of returning safely to school this fall
  • support food access by nurturing our school gardens and providing fresh produce to our neighborhoods, especially as the pandemic increases food insecurity
  • prepare virtual and in-person garden and cooking activities for our students, ensuring that critical enrichments continue for our students
  • purchase PPE and other critical supplies for our educators
  • work with our school partners to provide socioemotional support and engagement opportunities for students and families this school year.

Would you consider making a contribution to Edible Schoolyard NYC today?

Together, we can ensure that our students and school communities will continue to have edible education supporting whole-community health and wellness when it’s needed most.
