Giving Tuesday 2020 - Neighbors for Refugees and Elena's Light

by Elena's Light

At Elena's Light and at Neighbors for Refugees, we strive to empower refugees and asylum seekers and help them build a better, brighter future for themselves.

Now more than ever, we need your help in supporting our refugee and immigrant communities, who face some of the greatest risk in these harrowing times. Refugees and asylum seekers already face significant barriers in employment and healthcare, and these challenges have only been further compounded by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To begin with, many of them endure unimaginable strife in their efforts to seek a better life for themselves and their families. And even for those fortunate few who are able to get a second chance here in the U.S., there are still numerous barriers confronting them - at the same time they carry the pain of their past with them, they must make room for the growing pains of having to enter and explore a completely different world and culture. But still, they persevere.

And as much as the COVID-19 pandemic has presented further challenges for refugees and immigrants, they continue to work hard to create a better life for themselves, and here at Elena's Light and at Neighbors for Refugees, we are as committed as ever to supporting them.

Neighbors for Refugees advocates for the rights of refugees everywhere, working directly with refugee families in the Westchester area by providing them with the necessary services, resources, and community support systems to help them thrive in their new homes.

Meanwhile, Elena's Light works to help build brighter futures for refugee women and their families in Connecticut. By providing free culturally competent and accessible ESL and health programs, Elena's Light strives to empower refugee and immigrant women and help them foster their independence.

All donations received will be split evenly between Elena's Light and Neighbors for Refugees. Thank you for your support!
