In response to COVID-19, Empact Northwest is providing direct relief by getting food and necessities to the most vulnerable, sourcing and distributing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to local medical workers, and supporting COVID-19 testing in the Puget Sound. We have partnered with the City of Poulsbo, city and county volunteers, Medical Reserve Corps (MRC), and an innovative mobile dispatching software called BEACON by Trek Medics to meet the needs of the community as quickly and efficiently as possible. We rapidly implemented an intake process for volunteers and assistance requests through the Empact Northwest website to quickly triage the needs of community members and dispatch new volunteers to provide assistance. These volunteers are trained by Empact on how to safely carry out activities and then dispatched to conduct welfare checks, grocery shopping, meal deliveries, and prescription deliveries for residents who are quarantined, isolating, or otherwise in need during the pandemic. We expect the program to grow geographically and functionally as needs evolve.
As a disaster response organization, our workload and duty to serve only increases with COVID-19. Despite facing revenue loss and operational challenges, we remain fully committed to our mission and determined to provide essential services!
Now more than ever, Empact needs your support to continue to provide essential training, prepare communities, and respond to public health emergencies and disasters like COVID-19. Please make a tax-deductible donation today. Your donation directly supports Empact's work so that we can sustain operations during this funding shortfall and continue to ease the burden of this pandemic on our most vulnerable communities, families, and individuals.
Empact Northwest is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization providing immediate disaster response, rescue training, and community preparedness assistance for underserved communities. Founded in 2010 in response to the Haiti earthquake, Empact’s programs are dedicated to providing technical rescue service, direct medical care, and education around the world to those who need it most. Based in Puget Sound, Empact's Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) Task Force utilizes highly trained volunteers from all walks of life, including firefighters, paramedics, physicians, nurses, and logistics professionals. Empact Northwest is one of a very small group of non-governmental USAR Task Forces in the world and is the only internationally deployable non-governmental USAR Task Force in the United States. In past responses, Empact has deployed teams to Haiti, Sierra Leone, Japan, the Philippines, Nepal, Oso, Washington, and the Bahamas.
