Enjoy the ECO Musical Moments above! The first features ECO's extraordinary Music Director Bill Hill and his talented daughter Nadya Hill performing two short selections at our March 1, 2020 Chamber Music Recital. The second showcases ECO Concertmaster Kathy Thayer, ECO cellist Shirley Marecak, and ECO pianist Peggy Lyon in a performance of the first movement of Mendelssohn's fiery Piano Trio in c minor, Op. 66 held at our November 10, 2019 Chamber Music Recital. For more ECO Musical Moments visit our YouTube page and tune in to our Facebook page at 7pm MT on Tuesdays.
Due to the ongoing concerns of COVID-19, ECO has cancelled the two recitals we usually hold in October and November. Our commitment is first to the health and safety of our audience members and musicians, but we hope to schedule recitals in the spring of 2021. In the meantime, we ask you to show your support for ECO's superb recitals by making a donation today. This fundraising goal of $2,000 will help replace the revenue we would typically bring in for both recitals. If you are a regular attendee at ECO recitals or have been inspired by the music you hear during ECO Musical Moments we would like to ask you to donate the cost of a ticket. We are very grateful for your loyal support during this time!
We may be biased, but here at the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra we think the Chamber Music Recitals are exceptional. If you attend once you might just keep coming back as many of devoted followers have done to enjoy the performances of small chamber groups of ECO musicians and their friends. This is an opportunity to hear music different from what the full orchestra plays with varied classical repertoire spanning through all eras of classical music including modern composers as well as different styles of music such as Celtic and jazz. And you never know when Bill Hill will drop by to treat us with a dynamite surprise performance.
The recital series is one of the most special traditions of the Evergreen Chamber Orchestra which began in Larry and Wanda Beck's (ECO founding members) private home for a wonderfully intimate experience of live music. In 2009 ECO began holding one recital each season at the Center for the Arts Evergreen and this wonderful collaboration continued for many years. Last season ECO had planned to hold all four recitals at St. Laurence Episcopal Church, an amazing community that has received ECO with warmth and enthusiasm (not to mention the delectable receptions provided by church members after each recital). We cannot wait to return to St. Laurence Episcopal Church and resume recital performances in person.
The Chamber Music Recital series would not be what it is today without the brilliant leadership of ECO's recital coach Katharine (Kitty) Knight. Kitty is a professional cellist and co-founder of the Colorado-based Da Vinci Quartet. She has been advocating for and coaching chamber music groups as an adjunct faculty member of chamber music at the University of Denver for the past two decades. Kitty's expertise and passion for chamber music has consistently raised the level of musicianship in ECO recitals and she is a joy to work with.
