Be the Rescue. Together. Support Food Rescue US - Detroit!

by Food Rescue US

Due to the impact of COVID-19, it is estimated that 54 million Americans, including 1 in 4 children, will experience food insecurity in 2020. That is a 46% increase from 2019.

Food Rescue US - Detroit offers a highly sustainable food recovery model that empowers communities to use existing resources to support food insecure individuals and families. Since launching in 2019, Food Rescue US - Detroit has:

  • Provided over 1.3 million meals to the food insecure
  • Kept over 1.6 million pounds of excess food from ending-up in landfills
  • Launched emergency programs, like weekly produce box distributions, to provide over 1.2 million meals to those impacted during the pandemic
  • Partnered with 63 local social service agencies to ensure food is provided to those that need it most
  • Recovered excess food from 52 food donor partners
  • Worked with a community of 111 volunteer food rescuers

Due to COVID-19, your support of Food Rescue US is more important than ever. In the face of this growing need - and that of our community partners across the country - Food Rescue US - Detroit has risen to the challenge and adapted our efficient volunteer-driven model to increase our impact on reducing hunger and food waste.

Your donation is how we can continue to BE THE RESCUE. TOGETHER.
