The Friends of the Glen Ridge Library recognize that libraries bring people together. Throughout the pandemic, your Library brought us together even while we remained apart. In March they immediately pivoted to a complete virtual and online presence while their doors were closed for 5 months. Over Zoom, the community came together through library programs and meetups. If you receive their newsletters, you know there would always be something new to learn about and/or participate in each week. We heard that the arrival of these clever and informative newsletters were, to many, a welcomed source of comfort and support. And now, as the Library moves through a phased reopening, the staff is welcoming library visitors back into the building with many of the services back in place that our residents need and enjoy.

Hopefully, all of the Library’s services will be able to resume in the very near future.

Through financial support of the Friends of the Glen Ridge Library, residents are able to have access to expanded online offerings including:

  • Kanopy streaming films which includes movies, documentaries, children’s collection, and the Great Courses learning series
  • Regular schedule of online and virtual programming for everyone
  • More eBooks and digital audiobooks through Libby on OverDrive
  • Tutor.com which provides daily on-demand live tutoring for students in grades K-12, college level, and adult learners including job and career training

Why Your Gift Matters

Your donation to the 2020 Annual Appeal provides needed support for these online services in addition to the special services and programs that have been in place for years. These include the Summer Reading Program, daily programs and special events, and state-of-the-art technology including the new MeeScan self-check app and kiosks. Like many nonprofits, we have had our fundraising opportunities suffer due to the pandemic. We were unable to safely hold our Annual Town-Wide Yard Sale which is our major fundraiser each year. As a result, your donation is more important than ever.

A gift in any amount is greatly appreciated and 100% of all donations make their way to the Glen Ridge Public Library.
