Project Spring Cleaning!

One of our partner schools, LAYC Career Academy, is in need of supplies for the students and families that come through their doors. Families are struggling to afford every day toiletry and household items. This spring, we'll be supporting the school with these items - cooking oil, dish soap, deodorant, body soap, hand soap, sanitary pads, tampons, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and hand sanitizers. Your donation this spring will go toward this project!

Me & You’s Project Love!

Every year on Valentine's Day we go out to our communities, and provide toiletry bags, winter wear, blankets, and warm meals to our city's homeless. This year, we woke up at 6 a.m. on a cold and rainy Saturday morning to put together home made chili meals, ham and turkey sandwiches, thermoses filled with hot water, and toiletry packages filled with every day care items as well as blankets, gloves, hats, tea packets, Emergen-C and handwarmers. We went out onto the streets of the District and gave out these packages to those living on our sidewalks, benches and parks. As we were finishing up, the rain started to change to freezing rain, the sidewalks and roads were coating in ice, and we were reminded of how fortunate we are, to have places that we can call home. We hope we made a difference in some peoples' lives that day.

As a start-up 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we work to advocate for students and those without a home in the D.C. metro region. We're a grassroots, minority-led, female-owned organization. We partner with schools in the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia to provide students with the necessary items and services for a well-rounded life. We currently partner with five schools and are in the process of expanding. Our students come from low-income families in diverse communities and some are homeless or live in temporary housing. We work with teachers and administrative staff at each school to determine need, and from there we provide support. We provide essential toiletries, clothing, grocery store gift cards, school supplies, and more.

Alongside our mission to advocate for students from low-income families, is our mission to help those without a home in our city, by distributing home-cooked meals, care packages, winter clothes, and other necessities. Over the years, we've made a direct impact with over 400 of our city's homeless. In the District, there are 9,763 homeless individuals, according to the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments.
