What are your reasons to live? This is a question we ask every person who walks into the Grand Rapids Pride Center. Our reasons to live can be as simple as grandma’s spaghetti, puppies, techno music and Beyoncé to things like our children, friends and families.

Why do we ask this? Our Reasons To Live board represents to our LGBTQ+ community the pieces of their lives that hold great significance as they look forward to each day. Our LGBTQ+ community exists today in a polarized society where discrimination and hate are communicated openly and In a sociopolitical environment where the rights of LGBTQ+ rights are threatened and trans women of color are targeted almost daily through physical acts of violence, our reasons to live keep us alive.

At the Grand Rapids Pride Center, our mission is to empower our LGBTQ+ community through supportive services and awareness. Through our social & support groups, health access events, community training and education, advocacy initiatives and community events, we are able to create spaces where LGBTQ+ individuals can feel safe and proud of who they are.
