In honor and respect for the life of George Floyd, it is no longer appropriate to host a virtual celebration on Nan Giordano Day, Tuesday, June 9.

For decades, Giordano Dance Chicago (GDC) has been giving opportunities to those who would not otherwise experience the joy and power of the arts. Such commitment has been a critical mainstay of GDC’s educational programming and has exposed thousands upon thousands of under resourced children to the innovative Jazz Dance/Science & Health arts integration program, as well as providing 800 students and their families access each year to performances through our Free Ticket Program.

With these core educational values in mind, GDC is thrilled to share with you an incredible organization with a mission dedicated to helping youth. The National Black Child Development Institute (NBCDI) works with families and children from birth to age 8. From its inception, NBCDI’s focus has been achieving positive outcomes for vulnerable children who suffer from the dual legacies of poverty and racial discrimination.

To honor Mr. Floyd’s burial in Houston on June 9, all proceeds from the cancelled Nan Giordano Day event will be matched dollar for dollar and donated to NBCDI. To learn more about NBCDI, please click here.
