HARK- ALS is helping Bryan Wayne Galentine and his family with a handicapped accessible van, in addition to a bathroom renovation and other ALS related expenses otherwise not covered by insurance.
Bryan was diagnosed with ALS- also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease- in April of 2017. ALS, or amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, is a progressive neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and the spinal cord. The motor nerves that are affected when you have ALS are the motor neurons that provide voluntary movements and muscle control. ALS is currently terminal- over time Bryan will potentially lose his ability to speak, eat, move and ultimately breathe on his own. All of those challenges are already presenting themselves, at a steadily increasing rate.
Bryan is married, with two sons- 14 and 12. Since his diagnosis, they have been trying to make the most of every second, making as many memories as they can.
Bryan , also known as BWayne, has been a songwriter in Nashville for 25 years. He is best known for penning the #2 country hit “What If She’s An Angel” recorded by Tommy Shane Steiner. Knowing ALS could eventually rob him of his ability to speak and therefore sing, he decided to make his own record- entitled While You Wait. It can be purchased at his website- www.bryanwaynemusic.com, or at all digital retailers.
In addition, Bryan has chosen to use his voice and platform to be an advocate for raising ALS awareness as much as he possibly can. He is on the patient advisory board of www.iamals.org.
Before his diagnosis, he set up a Facebook page called “Find The Good Stuff”. www.thegoodstuff.org In spite of his terminal diagnosis, Bryan has chosen to see the good in the world vs. dwelling on negativity.
Wheelchair Van- $35,000
Bathroom Renovation- $15,000
