OUR MISSION

HUMAN RIGHTS DAY IS OBSERVED INTERNATIONALLY EVERY YEAR ON DECEMBER 10TH. IN 1948, ON THIS DAY, THE UNITED NATIONAL GENERAL ASSEMBLY ADOPTED THE UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS.

MEET our beneficiary:

Human Rights Initiative of North Texas. For 22 years, HRI has provided free legal and social services to immigrant survivors of human rights abuses.

Our clients have had the courage, resourcefulness, and good fortune to seek freedom from abusive environments. Our job is to help them overcome barriers to safety and success.

How you can help this Human Rights Day: HRD DFW is raising funds to provide direct aid to immigrants in our community who are seeking legal relief in our country.

Your donation helps families secure necessities like food, medical care, housing, and legal employment.

HRI's clients are immigrants eligible for legal status under humanitarian provisions of U.S. law: asylum seekers fleeing persecution; children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected and have no one to protect or provide for them outside the U.S.; undocumented immigrants subjected to violence or abuse by a family member who is a citizen or permanent legal resident, and victims of violent crime who help law enforcement investigate and prosecute that crime.

What we do: Working with almost 600 client families and more than 360 community volunteers, HRI provides expert legal representation and trauma-informed social services. We partner with immigrants to achieve legal status and employment and forge a path to freedom, safety, and opportunity.
