Our Health is the Community's Health

With help from you, our Direct Assistance Fund helps our guests find housing.

These funds help with security deposits and provide rental assistance to individuals and families experiencing homelessness during the COVID-19 outbreak.

We are moving as many guests as we can into permanent housing or arranging alternate housing sites if guests have symptoms.

We are also covering the cost of medical co-pays for office visits and medical testing if guests have symptoms.

100% of funds raised will go towards direct assistance for households experiencing homelessness.

The Lawrence Community Shelter is a safe haven for individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Douglas County. We are an essential emergency resource for our community, especially when times are tough.

Many of our guests have no access to medical insurance, and many have co-occurring illnesses and disabilities. Many people experiencing homelessness are at high risk for COVID-19 complications. As a housing-focused emergency shelter, we know that our guests' primary needs are access to care and permanent housing.

Help us ensure that individuals and families experiencing homelessness in Douglas County can access permanent housing and medical care in the context of the pandemic.

Tell your friends to text 'STAYHEALTHY' to 44-321 to access this page to give.

You can also send a check with "Healthy and Housed" in the memo line to:
