Help us increase our bed capacity during the cold, winter months.

The Lawrence Community Shelter is the only emergency shelter serving individuals experiencing homelessness in Douglas County, KS.

The first $20,000 we raised has been matched by a generous donor!

In August, our bed capacity was cut in half due to funding constraints. Shelter for single adults was reduced by 2/3. LCS is the only provider of emergency shelter to single adults in Lawrence-Douglas County. There is no Plan B in Douglas County for this population.

Since temperatures have dropped we have been turning away 10-15 people a day from the shelter. Every dollar donated over this page will go directly towards the cost of sheltering, feeding, and meeting the basic needs of an additional 25 people per night, as well as ensuring we have enough staff to maintain a safe shelter environment.

You can help us bring more people in from the cold this winter by donating to this campaign.

If you prefer to donate by check, please write "Shelter from the cold" on the memo line and send your donation to:
