Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the well-being and health of the animals we rescue, ensuring they’re not only surviving the threat of homelessness and euthanasia, but giving them the opportunity to receive the love and individualized care they so deserve.

In 2023, 690,000 shelter animals were euthanized nationwide, many of which are due to a lack of shelter space. Non-live outcomes increased by 15% compared to 2022 - an increase we're still seeing and feeling throughout 2024. At a time when shelters across the country are facing a capacity crisis and the risk of euthanasia looms around them, they turn to Lost Dog & Cat Rescue Foundation to help them change the fate of pets in need of rescue. We open our doors to rescue thousands of homeless pets at risk of euthanasia every year, and this year has been no different. The urgency and volume of requests are increasing—and because of your support—we have the power to continue saying "YES."

Rural areas in our home state of Virginia are no exception to the grim reality of euthanasia. In 2024, 58% of the dogs and cats we've rescued have originated from rural county and municipal shelters across Virginia. Knowing every animal was at risk of living their last day homeless in a shelter, LDCRF has worked shoulder-to-shoulder with our shelter partners to save over 1,380 pets from the risk of homelessness and euthanasia this year alone - all because of your generosity, commitment, and unwavering support to our mission.
