Madonna House Inc., A Religious Association

“Primarily for Children and Women”

Mission Statement

Madonna House Inc., a Religious Association, founded in 1987 by Rebecca Blonski, was incorporated in 1992. The primary purpose of our apostolate is to serve infants, children and families by providing: clothing; children’s supplies; bedding; juvenile furnishings; personal products; small household items; toiletries; toys; etc. ~ free of charge!

Madonna House lovingly serves children, from those who are homeless, to children of families faced with financial difficulty. Children are referred to us by: all social service agencies; churches; clinics; hospitals; individuals; local and county welfare departments; municipal courts; police departments; professionals; schools; The VNA, and The United Way.

Madonna House is not a crutch, but another valuable resource, allowing parents or guardians to better care for their children in temporary, emergency, or crisis situations. Since 1987, Madonna House, with the help of devoted, compassionate volunteers, has helped literally tens of thousands of local children.

The families and children that come to Madonna House are diverse in ethnicity, cultural background, race, religions, accepting people of all multiplicity. We firmly believe that each and every person is a precious gift from God, thus worthy of respect. We strive to help families live with the dignity that all human beings deserve; embracing life as the greatest of all God’s gifts.

Christ our Lord, who died for each of us, commands us to love one another as He has loved us, adding: “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.” Not only do we offer families the very best of material goods, which have been donated by the Grace of God; but our desire to help the poor and suffering is given through natural benevolence, because we cannot bear to see suffering without attempting to relieve it.

Most of the women coming to Madonna House live below the poverty level. For many women the decision to give life and raise their child means a life of poverty. Because of our total commitment and respect for all human life Madonna House is unique in our approach to helping others. If one encourages a positive approach to life, then true alternatives must be offered: Madonna House is one of those alternatives.

Madonna House is not funded by Federal, State, County, or local government and we have no paid staff. Madonna House is made possible only through our thrift store, private donations and the generosity of caring people who love their neighbors as they love themselves. Madonna House is a 501.(C) (3) ~ fully tax-deductible, non-profit organization.
