Pass the Torch: Project Grow Need-Based Fund

by Pass the Torch for Women Foundation

Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have had to postpone many of our events that help us grow our presence, honor those in our community and sustain us financially. Here is the good news: our programs will carry on—and you can help make them happen!

Pass the Torch for Women Foundation is raising money for a Project Grow Need-Based Fund that will ensure mentees have a strong foundation of support for their personal, professional, and basic needs.

By donating to this campaign, you are helping to empower a woman to fulfill her goals while alleviating roadblocks. 60% of your donation funnels into a scholarship that our students and developing professionals can apply for to help them during this time of uncertainty, and 40% goes back to help us keep our lights on. Join us in giving back and leaving your legacy!

Here is some more information about the need-based mentee fund:

As mentees in the Pass the Torch community work to establish their careers, they face many challenges. Not all of those challenges can be solved through mentorship. What happens if a mentee’s car breaks down and she can’t get to work or school? What if a mentee starts a new job and needs to pay for professional clothes? How can mentees prioritize professional development when faced with financial road-blocks that stand in their way?
Pass the Torch for Women Foundation is establishing a need-based fund to help provide a safety net for mentees and allow them to stay focused on their goals.

WHAT IS THE NEED-BASED MENTEE FUND?

Pass the Torch for Women Foundation’s need-based fund is a new initiative for current mentees. Project Grow students, Project Grow Alumna, and Developing Professionals will be able to apply to receive funds to cover some of their financial needs while they work towards their career goals.

For example, scholarships could be used for:

• Car repairs

• Textbooks

• Utility bills

• Medical expenses

• Other financial necessities that a mentee proposes
