Make any donation to n+1 before December 9 and our editors will make you a personalized reading list.

This year, n+1 needs your support to continue publishing urgent literary and political writing. But in asking for your help, we wanted to ensure that we're able to show our appreciation for every single one of our donors, no matter how much you're able to give. In the tradition of classic n+1 projects like No Regrets and What We Should Have Known, our Bookmatch fundraiser will create a personalized reading list for every donor—a tiny but hopefully valuable way to thank you for your support, and for reading.

Give any amount:

No matter how much you’re able to give, n+1 will send you the Bookmatch quiz, which we designed after much conversation and spirited debate among our editors. From a selection of over 100 titles, the quiz will pair you with 10 books that we guarantee will leave you literarily (if not emotionally) fulfilled.

** Nota Bene: Any Bookmatch donation level can also be sent as a gift! When we're in touch after your donation, simply give us the giftee's info and we'll send the quiz and any prizes their way. **

Give $250:

Donate $250 or more and we’ll start mailing you books based on your Bookmatch quiz results. At $250, we’ll send your top match.

Give $500:

We’ll send you two books of your choice from your Bookmatch quiz results, and a discount code to our online bookstore to use in the coming year.

Give $750:

You’ll receive four books of your choice from your quiz results, plus a discount code, plus some n+1 merch.

Give $1,000:

Receive all ten books from your list, a discount code, and n+1 merch.

Give $3,000 or more:

A big care package is coming your way! We’ll send you your ten books, plus n+1 merch, plus a complimentary one-year membership to n+1—which includes a subscription, special event invitations, and a tote bag.

Our five highest Bookmatch donors—and one randomly selected donor of any amount!—will receive a personal reading list consultation with one of our celebrated authors: including Elif Batuman, Andrea Long Chu, Mark Greif, Chad Harbach, Mary Karr, Dayna Tortorici, Nikil Saval, and Mona Simpson.

You'll chat one-on-one with an author to discuss your interests and together create a personalized reading list to last you through the winter and beyond. n+1 will do the shopping for you and mail you a care package of your books, along with some extra n+1 merch. As a bonus, you’ll also receive a consultation with Zoe Abrams Rare Books and choose a rare book to add to the package.

The n+1 foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit literary organization that publishes a print and digital magazine of literature, culture, and politics three times a year, as well as new online-only work and books expanding on the interests of the magazine.

Your donation will be tax-deductible minus the cost of the goods received. Or, you can choose to forfeit the book prizes and make your gift 100% tax deductible.
