Fresh Squeezed Ounce of Opera (FSOO) returned in July 2026 with our 8th crop of exciting, contemporary micro-works staged in an East Austin warehouse. This award-winning*, juried showcase is one-of-a-kind, with deep Austin roots, and is an audience (and critics') favorite.

31 micro-operas that have made their world or regional premieres here in Austin
5 annual professional Production Team positions (stage director, music director, lighting/projections director, assistant director, and stage manager)
40+ additional paid gig roles for singers and artists in events throughout each season
20+ additional paid positions for those in our circle to supplement their creative work with administrative, backstage, front-of-house, assistantship, and development positions (note: we train from within), each season
1000s of curious neighbors, fellow classical music lovers, and traveling opera fans who this work has touched – and who weren't turned away based on their ability to pay (note: 90% of our programming is free or donation-based)

Our ability to do our thing like no one else! One Ounce Opera invites you to gather and immerse yourself in dynamic storytelling. We explore contemporary topics through the lenses of diverse trailblazers, forging new paths in the art form for all generations to enjoy.

We enrich by creating opera in accessible, non-traditional spaces, and meet folks where they are in places that don’t seem out of reach, regardless of socio-economic status or past experiences with the art form. Since our launch in 2012, we have remained dedicated to reimagining opera in unexpected spaces.
