The Family Advocacy Center celebrates the 16th “Season” of Dancing with the Stars. This event has raised thousands of dollars to support the important work of the center. Nearly 100 “Stars” over the years have participated by learning and performing a dance for their ardent supporters while most importantly raising funds to capture the coveted Mirror Ball Trophy!

As we move on from an unprecedented pandemic, our programs are vitally important to the stability of our families and children who are facing greater challenges and mental health difficulties than ever before.

TNT Mentoring - We continue to recruit volunteer mentors to provide a friend and ally to children in all our schools in Ottawa County. These important mentors provide a safe and accepting relationship to children identified as being “in need” for many different reasons.

Grandlove - Supports grandparents and other kinship families raising children that are not biologically theirs. These families often have little support, time, and resources for the challenges they face. We give one on one advocacy, support groups, tutoring and access to other financial and social-emotional resources to over 100 families.

Summer Food Program- Provided over 200,000 meals to children throughout the county and surrounding areas this summer. In addition, we provide weekend food bags and school break bags in every school district to those children that may struggle with food insecurity during times of school breaks.

Konnections – Our mentoring program for senior citizens. This program is recruiting volunteers to be friends and a neighbor to an at-risk senior.

The Center is also home to a Community Garden, a Sunflower Field, and Fresh Bread(a monthly free community meal). Recently, we hosted the grand opening of our Free Shed. This shed will provide 24/7 access to basic needs items and food.

We continue to assess and react to community needs. We can do this through the support of events like this and the willingness of our “Stars!” Thank you for your support!
