Virtual events may become less common as things open back up, but as is the case with Concord Couch Concerts’ Rockin’ Rainbow Special, the live-stream approach for some events will likely continue. “The reality is we’re still not at a place where everyone is comfortable gathering,” said CCC producer Dave Hughes. “Perhaps our format lends itself well to an online audience generally, but I think as we transition into a post-pandemic landscape, things like community fundraisers being done virtually may be optimal in the coming months. As we stream something special to raise funds for our friends at Rainbow Community Center (RCC) of Contra Costa, that production can be broadcasted live to smaller gatherings at any businesses or residences wishing to take part in this community event.”

Executive Director of RCC of Contra Costa County Kiku Johnson, shares that the organization is “honored to be supported through Concord Couch Concerts as we continue to gain visibility and representation for so many of our county's Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, and Intersex community members!” Johnson added, “To be supported by the local music community is exactly the grassroots people-power, community-driven, organizing and allyship that really showcases entertainment and embracement reaching people so we do not feel alone.”

The virtual pride event will feature over 20 performances of some local artists who’ve been entertaining us on CCC for the last 15 months. The ever-growing list of confirmed acts includes Tell Me Tell Me, M Jones & the Melee, Accidents at Sundown, Sin Silver, Mourning Mountains, Bob Loomis, Sabertooth Unicorn, Brooks Lundy, RiGht Proper, Muñecas, KAT Van Morgan, Danny Hauger, Blitz, Ray Penrod, Painted Wind, Rachael Kayte, Hear in Color, Carlos Xavier, Tay Robin, The Concordians, the Dream Tellers, Timmy G, Erik Karff, and Nancy Lake & the Ripple Effect.

“Queer folx have been born from local art and expression exactly like this through the entertainers of the Concord Couch Concerts and are honored that we are being serenaded and entertained!” elated Johnson.

Catch the June 18th event at 8PM on Facebook or YouTube. Hold screen at 7:50. Follow CCC for more details.
