We are dedicated to raising funds to support the most promising spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD) research and to ultimately bring awareness, dissemination of knowledge and research findings to the bedside of patients with SCAD.

SCAD is a poorly understood cause of a heart attack. SCAD is the #1 cause of heart attacks in women under age 50, pregnant women and new moms. Although far less common, SCAD can impact men too. The average age of a SCAD patient is 42 years young.

SCAD Research, Inc. is an all-volunteer IRS approved nonprofit charity started by Robert Alico, whose active, healthy wife did not survive and no one could answer why. When the cardiologist had very few answers about SCAD, Bob took action and organized a 501(c)(3) organization.

To date we have donated a total of over $1.3 million to advance research on SCAD since we started in 2011. The vast majority of these funds have been awarded to Mayo Clinic SCAD Research Program, Rochester, MN.
