Syracuse Housing Authority (SHA) (Neighborhood Innovations, Inc.) is pleased to announce the creation of the Brexialee Torres Ortiz Memorial Scholarship, a heartfelt tribute to the cherished memory of Brexialee Torres Ortiz, whose tragic departure on January 16, 2023, left a profound impact on us all.

The loss of Brexialee has been devastating for our community, and SHA wants to honor and celebrate the life of such a promising young lady in whatever way we can. With the blessing of her family, we hope to assist a young person who wishes to continue their education in the same way that Brexi would have.

To ensure her name is never forgotten, each year we will present a $5000 scholarship to an eligible SHA Public Housing resident entering a 2 or 4-year college or university who embodies the extraordinary spirit of little Brexi.
