Dignity for Divas supports women across the Puget Sound transition out of homelessness through the use of a self-care platform that creates pathways to success.

When forced to live on the streets, women are particularly vulnerable. Not only are they at greater risk of sexual assault and abuse, they suffer the indignity of not having basic hygiene needs met. Without regular access to showers, bathroom facilities and essential care supplies, women are unable to properly manage their hygiene and monthly menses. As a result, women are unable to feel clean and healthy, damaging their confidence and sense of self-worth.

Dignity for Divas believes that self-care is the first step on the road to stability and self-sufficiency. By providing essential care packages to women experiencing homelessness and to women who are newly housed, Dignity for Divas helps women restore their dignity, reminding them that they matter and reconnecting them with their “Inner Diva.” But toothbrushes, deodorant, feminine hygiene products, laundry detergent and cleaning supplies are just the beginning! Dignity for Divas supports women at different stages on their journey to success. We offer extensive resources and services to remove obstacles and support women in establishing life fulfilling goals.

Dignity for Divas operates programs in six cities (Seattle, Bellevue, Everett, Tacoma, Kent and Renton) that function around the core value of self-care.

Diva Duty: Once a month a team of volunteers hits the streets for “Diva Duty,” distributing Diva Survival Kits. Kits contain a selection of 10 to 15 personal care items for men, women and children who are living on the streets, in tent cities or in emergency shelters. Items include toothbrushes, toothpaste, feminine hygiene products, soap, shampoo, shaving supplies, deodorant, and socks. -- Over 30,000 Diva Survival Kits delivered since 2012.

Welcome Home Diva: Dignity for Divas presents women who have transitioned from being homeless to being housed with a Welcome Home bag that contains a selection of essential care products and household supplies to help them get settled. Women also receive a Welcome Home Diva’s Guide to Success packet which includes a directory of nearby shelters, food banks, community health clinics, counseling services, transportation services and a list of events such as employment workshops, and free computer and life skills classes.

Diva Dream: Similar to Welcome Home kits, Diva Dream bags are meant to provide extra encouragement for Divas on the journey to success. We offer them as a “Congratulations!” gift to those who have maintained permanent housing for six months.-- 21 Diva Dream bags delivered since the program began in 2014.

Join our cause and help put women on a path to success!

“Dignity for Divas has helped me so much! They helped me with dishes, clothing and make-up. I used to have low self-esteem... Now I come out of my room so much more often. “ –Andie, Dignity for Divas participant
