Upower is a Seattle-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides fitness classes and wellness education to underserved teens in King County, Washington

Presenter: Kate Holman, Program Director

Upower opens doors to active and healthy living for underserved teens who have few, if any, opportunities to work out, play team sports, learn about nutrition, or enjoy the physical and emotional benefits of regular exercise.

We understand that sport and play enhance a teen’s life in significant ways. And how a healthy lifestyle makes a beneficial impact on a person’s overall well-being.

Our approach to fitness and wellness is positive and sensitively aware. This means our classes not only raise heartbeats and get teens moving but also helps them to build confidence, develop prosocial connections, leadership skills, and how to regulate their emotions through sport and play.
