Urban Impact’s Business Accelerator supports entrepreneurs in under-resourced communities by providing mentorship, customized business training, and access to capital.

Presenter: B.J. Stewart, Chief Operations Officer

Founded in 1987 to address the complex realities of urban poverty in Seattle’s Rainier Valley, Urban Impact was built on the principles of Christian community development. Focused on strengthening families and raising leaders, Urban Impact partners with people in the neighborhood to address issues surrounding education, youth development, family, health, economic stability, and racial reconciliation.

Generational poverty has social, material and spiritual implications. Breaking it requires a holistic approach that addresses both the personal and systemic challenges of poverty.

Urban Impact believes entrepreneurship is a powerful tool in breaking the cycle of poverty. Our economic development efforts, including the Business Accelerator, a Startup School, and “Sharks at the Beach”, our annual social venture pitch event, will produce sustainable enterprises, that create jobs, which ultimately lead to a flourishing community.
