COVID-19 Response Fund - Phase II

Spark* SF Public Schools deeply appreciates the tremendous outpouring of community support we have received in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To ensure the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) is prepared and equipped for the new school year beginning on August 17, Spark* SF Public Schools is launching Phase Two of its COVID-19 Response Fund.

Over the coming months, schools will be at the forefront of our emergence from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic as they will have an interconnected role in enabling parents to return to work and businesses to reopen.

There are no frameworks to do this in the context of an ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. Given current guidance from public health and education officials, we know it will require major changes in how we deliver instruction so that we minimize health risks for our students, staff, and families while also maximizing learning and support.

SFUSD anticipates millions of dollars in new unfunded costs to make this happen. Coupled with steep drops in local and state funding due to the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, the threat to our resources is grave.

This all comes at a time when many of our students and families need even more from schools, including meals, technology access, distance learning, and social-emotional support. And, that is why we need your help now more than ever. Your donation today to Spark’s COVID-19 Response Fund will help defray costs related to:

  • Closing the Digital Divide: Chromebooks, WiFi Hotspots, Family Resource Link & Tech Support

  • Remote Learning: Readers in languages other than English, Books

  • Health and Wellness: Student Meals, Safety Equipment and Sanitization Measures

  • Instructional Planning and Implementation: Teacher Training and Support, Configuration of Classrooms and Schedules

This pandemic has challenged the district on many levels, but we are hopeful that we will emerge stronger than ever with the support of our community. Thank you for your donation to our COVID-19 Response Fund and for uplifting San Francisco’s public school students and families.
