A family of 22 public schools that develops and shares effective strategies through a community of practice, empowering students to achieve economic and social mobility, the Urban Assembly (UA) has been raising rates of achievement for students in New York City for nearly 20 years. Since 1997, the UA has founded small, public themed schools in partnership with the NYC Department of Education and with hundreds of public, private, and non-profit sector partners to increase educational opportunities, provide an equitable education, and close the achievement gap.
