Utah Muslim Civic League (UMCL) is determined to help the Afghan refugees in these difficult and hard times. To continue our efforts with helping the newcomers, we are conducting a donation drive for our Afghan brothers and sisters who need help with jobs and work opportunities.

UMCL has started a campaign where we will help the young Afghan newcomers get driver's licenses and driving permits. These young Afghans need jobs and working opportunities to sustain their lives and help their families. After getting licenses and permits, we believe that many new working opportunities will open up for them. Each individual will be given $250 to help with procedural fees under this project. We intend to help 50 refugees in the first phase of this project, but we also plan to increase this project's scope as we move on.

Since the influx of these refugees in Utah, UMCL is the only Muslim organization that has taken the lead to support these newcomers. We want the Muslim community to come forward and contribute financially and physically to the mission of helping Afghan newcomers. That is why it is imperative that everyone from the community come forward and help us with this project. This will not only help them with their immediate need of getting a job but also help them, in the long run, to financially sustain their families.
