FIRST Washington provides exciting mentor-based programs for youth ages 6-18, that build science, technology, engineering, and math skills, inspire innovation, and foster well-rounded life capabilities such as self-confidence, communication and leadership.

We now serve 15,828 youth per year and are the largest afterschool STEM program in the state. Our emphasis is on bringing STEM equity, access, and inclusion to the most disadvantaged youth, in communities lacking resources so that ALL youth— especially minority and low-income youth—can develop 21st century workforce/life skills; so that the STEM pipeline includes more diversity; and so that we can solve the STEM workforce shortage for local businesses.

FIRST Washington programs are free for participants; this ensures that cost is not an obstacle to participation.
