UPDATE: Thanks to the generous outpouring of support, we met our original goal of $2500 in support of Art Kits for All. As of mid-August, we have distributed over 1000 kits, and we still have endless ideas for new and exciting kits and activities. Due to the tremendous demand for this program, we have increased our goal to $5000 to help defray the cost of providing these packets of creative inspiration to families throughout our region.

ABOUT ART KITS FOR ALL:

In response to the COVID-19 public health crisis and our need to keep social distance, Waterville Creates! launched a new program in collaboration with our community partners. Art Kits for All is our effort to help keep all of our community’s families engaged and entertained during this public health crisis by providing free art supplies and Do-It-Yourself instructions for simple yet satisfying art projects that can be created at home.

The Art Kits for All are assembled by a collaborative team including representatives from Waterville Creates!, the Colby College Museum of Art, the Waterville School System, the Family Violence Project, and Kennebec Montessori School. Masks and gloves are worn during kit assembly and all art materials are disinfected to remove any risk of contamination — the kits are prepared and sealed a week prior to the distribution date to further minimize any transmission risk. Kits are distributed at the Downtown Waterville Farmers' Market and at other community sites.
