About Us:

WHC WV is a nonprofit health center that opened as WV’s first abortion provider in 1976 and was the state’s last-standing abortion provider when Roe fell in 2022.

After WV’s anti-abortion politicians passed a near-total ban in September 2022, WHC WV did not back down. Instead, we chose to stay, grow, and expand.

At home in Charleston, we expanded our services to meet direct community need by offering gender-affirming care to trans and non-binary people through our clinic's LGBTQ+ Health Program as well as meeting the opioid crisis head-on by launching our Harm Reduction Program.

And we didn’t stop there. We doubled down on our commitment to reproductive freedom by opening our sibling clinic, the Women’s Health Center of Maryland, just 5 miles from the WV border in Cumberland. WHC MD serves as a safe haven for life-saving care.

And now, despite federal regulation, we’re stepping up again to improve healthcare outcomes in our communities. We can’t wait to share more!
