The past several months has been like no other for so many people and organizations and the YMCA of the Fox Cities is no exception. As we navigate the impact of this global crisis, the Y is still committed to finding a way to serve children, families, adults, and senior citizens in our community.
While our facilities were closed, the Y reached out to our most vulnerable members including our seniors, cancer survivors and others with chronic diseases, offered virtual fitness classes for health seekers, shared wellness tips, cooking lessons and family activities on social media and provided critical child care for first responders and essential workers.
Although we have opened our doors now and have slowly started to resume regular activities, we still have a long way to go. It is safe to say that life has changed for everyone – even those without a COVID-19 diagnosis. This pandemic has had an impact on employment, childcare, education, food, availability of household items, the list goes on. For some of our most vulnerable neighbors, what may have been a daily struggle before COVID-19 has now become a dire situation. Our entire economy has been affected and our society continues to recover.
The Y’s cause has been and will always be “to strengthen the foundations of our community” and now, more than ever, our community is relying on the Y to do just that. The requests to provide financial assistance for Y membership, programs, childcare and camp are expected to increase significantly. The Y needs to be here to help our neighbors overcome the setbacks faced from the aftermath of this pandemic. We need your help to make this possible!
Join us as we begin to revitalize our neighborhoods through programs and membership that provide the support so urgently needed today! Together, we can strengthen our community again.
If you can help make a difference in the life of someone who needs support, please donate to the YMCA!
