Our 2nd annual CampOut for a Cause (COFAC) is June 4, 2021. This is a one night fundraiser where friends and families come together to support the most vulnerable in our community.

We see folks holding signs “Anything helps, God Bless”. The cardboard sign and oversized clothes make it easy to pass them by without even a wave…we miss the opportunity to help someone in need. Where do they go at the end of their day? Some return to streets, some go to a tent, some find a friend who will extend their couch for the night and some return to their families waiting for their “hero” who provides for the family.

Because of the support from our community, YSS is able to extend a helping hand to our brothers and sisters experiencing homelessness. For families experiencing homelessness we have emergency housing where we place families in an apartment or hotel and assist them in finding permanent housing. Youth facing homelessness are able to find a home at our Transitional Living Program that provides housing, support and life skills training with the goal of them living independently.

A pregnant mother of a three year old called asking for help, as she had no place to call home. Her pregnancy is high-risk requiring weekly appointments in Pittsburgh. We booked them a hotel room for the week, delivered food and provided her with a $100 gas card so she did not miss doctor appointments. She could breathe a sense of relief knowing she and her child had a safe and warm place to lay their heads at night, and she would be getting the proper medical attention for her second child to ensure a healthy start.

We hope you will join us as we host our 2nd Annual CampOut for a Cause to raise funds for programs that provide shelter and services for youth and families experiencing homelessness.
