Unlike in the U.S., high school is not free in most developing countries. If students want to go to school they are required to pay fees. These fees are only about $1 per day! That is not much for us, but to them it could be over 50% of their family income. Now imagine if you are in a family with five or six children. You basically have no chance to go to school. Even though parents understand that education is important to break their family poverty cycle, they simple cannot afford to send their kids to school.
