ABOUT THE PRODUCTION:

Set during the last years of New York City's celebrated High School for the Performing Arts, Fame JR. is the bittersweet, but ultimately inspiring, story of a diverse group of students who commit to four years of grueling artistic and academic work. With candor, humor and insight, the show explores the issues that confront many young people today.

About Multi-School Musical:

Since 2015, ASAP Drama and the ASPIRA of Pa, Inc. have co-produced an annual multi-school musical theatre production which was borne out of ASAP and ASPIRA’s common goal to find new, compelling ways to use the dramatic arts to empower the city’s emerging bilingual student population and build a sense of community among participating schools. Through this partnership, ASAP and ASPIRA have engaged more than 900+ K-12th grade youth annually in every facet of the shows’ production. The annual production fosters a community of like-minded peers from different schools, all working together to realize a shared vision that they will perform for hundreds of classmates, family, and community members. By modifying existing scripts to feature Spanish (when possible) and making it a point to include cultural references, the production has helped North Philadelphia’s Latino student population celebrate their heritage and encourage bilingual fluency.
