ETCHED
An Immersive Gala with Alabaster International
One plant feeds 20 million people. The rest of the world hasn't noticed yet.
It's called Enset.
It survives drought when other crops fail. It stores food underground for years. It restores depleted soil, sequesters carbon, and has fed communities in Ethiopia through famine, conflict, and climate shock for generations. Scientists and climate researchers are now calling it one of the most important food crops on Earth for a warming world.
And it has been grown, protected, and passed down entirely by Indigenous women farmers.
Alabaster International is working alongside these women to expand Enset cultivation into communities across Africa facing hunger, drought, and economic hardship — building food sovereignty and climate resilience from the ground up, led by the people who know this plant best. This work is at the nexus of nutrition, health, economic empowerment, environmental stewardship, and gender equity.
ETCHED is your invitation into that story.
This exclusive evening brings together donors, philanthropists, and changemakers who want to learn about and fund something real: a climate-resilient crop, a proven model, and a community of women who are already transforming their region.
You will meet the people behind the work, experience East African culture firsthand, and see the Enset story on screen for the first time. Through immersive cultural experiences, meaningful connection, and storytelling, guests will gain a deeper understanding of how community-led solutions are transforming communities across Africa.
The Evening:
• Traditional Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony & Cultural Marketplace
• World Premiere — short documentary on Alabaster's Enset program
• Live entertainment & immersive cultural experiences
• Appetizers & cocktails
• Silent auction
• VIP red carpet & exclusive early access (select ticket levels)
Your Impact:
Every dollar raised funds Alabaster International's Enset program, scaling this remarkable crop, equipping women farmers with resources and income, and protecting Indigenous agricultural knowledge that the world cannot afford to lose.
Every ticket purchased, sponsorship secured, auction bid placed, and donation made helps empower women and families to thrive. As we come together, we declare that they are not forgotten.
The women at the heart of this work are not statistics.
They are seen.
They are leaders.
They are knowledge keepers.
Their names are etched.
